Common uses: Like many of our other air dried vegetables, these bell peppers are often added to chilies, pizza, rice, soups, casseroles and Creole and Spanish entrees.
Packaging: Bagged selections are in resealable poly bags. Bulk box orders use sealed plastic bag inside sturdy cardboard box.
Easy to Prepare
- Add dry peppers while cooking chilies, soups, and stews.
- For most other applications, hydrate using 1 part dry peppers and 6 1/2 parts water.
- Bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 20 minutes.
- More water may be needed.
Yield — 1 oz equals about 1/2 cup dry. Generally, air dried vegetables double in volume when hydrated.
Rehydration Ratio — 1 lb of air dried green bell peppers, once rehydrated, equals approximately 6.5 lbs of fresh prepared diced green bell peppers.
Storage — Best if used within 18 months. Store tightly sealed in a dry location away from sunlight.
