Review by: BJoyFreeze Dried Green BeansI simply cannot express how PLEASED I am to find this quality company! My FD green beans are wonderful!!! I have been ordering these for over 10 years with two other online companies. After much disappointment, I recently searched again and found NorthBay for the first time. I plan to spread the word!!!

Review by: BayouBoyAlmost as good as fresh out of the garden green beans. We love these and eat them all the time as a side dish to main course meals like pot roast, etc. We prepare them by measuring 1 cup per person in a medium size pot straight out of the package. Add just enough water to cover them. To this we like to add about 1/2 teaspoon of sesame seed oil for flavoring - healthier than bacon, a little butter, salt, and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes. Way better than canned greened beans, or even the frozen ones, and almost as good fresh out of the garden green beans. What's really nice is they're always available in our pantry!

Review by: JenGood OverallAfter reading reviews, I thought they'd be crunchier. They are crisp, but have a foamy interior. Overall, a good product that I'm enjoying, but did require a little getting-used-to. Haven't tried cooking them yet, but I'm enjoying them as-is.

Review by: MeganPerfect all around!I bought two bags of these for Christmas gifts, chicken noodle soup in a jar with more veggies than canned. I nipped one just to test the quality when I got them in the mail, and ten minutes later, my mom and I are munching handfuls of them! Good thing I bought two bags! They cook beautifully, and the soup got rave reviews. Will always have some on hand for snacking!

Review by: J2Oh the goodness! The next best thing to just-picked green beans. The beans are sweet and wonderful right from the bag, and the crunch is just plain fun. No more online superstores -- NTB delivers!

Review by: AZRetireeDog treats!I haven't used these in soup, yet, as I intended, because I fed one to my dog, and she loved it! She thinks these are treats! They are good for people to eat out of the bag, too, not tough or chewy, but crunchy and tasty. My dog won't eat canned green beans, but she loves these.

Review by: CarolynTestingI rated your veggies with a 5 star because of the excellent quality you portray on your web site. I have not yet used them but recently purchased seven bags of freeze dried veggies. I bought small bags so I could experiment. I make my own dog food and have recently switched to raw. To this raw I add some carbs and vegetables along with vitamins, calcium, fish oil, etc. Instead of having to chop and prepare vegetables all the time I'm going to see if my dogs like your freeze dried veggies. I mixed all seven bags in a large container, scooped out a cup and added 1/2 c water. I'll add their raw meat to this along with oats or rice and hope they love it. Also see how long it lasts to see if its cost effective. I hope so. It would save me a lot of time.

Review by: MImommaBetter than expected!I bought these based on the reviewer who fed them to her toddlers--my toddler loves these as much as the strawberries, and I have to sheepishly admit that I eat them right out of the bag too, and I'm NOT what you'd call a "health nut". I just like how portable they are and that I don't have to worry about these like I would potato chips, and these are almost tasty :-)

Review by: New veggie lover!I MISS THESE!!Hope you get these FD green beans again REALLY soon becase they are quite tasty, and the BEST healthy snack that is super low in calories and really tastes good right out of the bag. My last order was a three pound bag, and it was so easy to put a snack size portion in a ziplock bag, so I could munch on these instead of being tempted by a slice of NYC pizza, while out shopping. Please bring them back! I added them to soups, and rice dishes, where they always tasted like fresh green beans, and of course much tastier than canned green beans.

Review by: CookieHLove it!I live in a rural, often snowed in, area. My taste buds didn't like Cambells or Progresso's Vegetarian Veg. Soup. Along with other products, the green beans were so tasty and stayed true to form like fresh! Along with the beans, corn, peas, carrots, tomatoes and the powder, some northern beans, barley onion, celery ... OMG! I made 5 quarts that my roommate slurped through in 2 days leaving me with one bowl but it was lovely and your products are better than I thought and better than other vendors with whose products I am familiar. Kudos to you!!! Thanks for putting out products that perform like fresh!

Review by: Home cooking ladyVersatile and tasty!I've tossed these beans into canned or homemade soups, stews, once in a mashed potato casserole when I "oops" too much liquid. They re-hydrated fine and were really good! I've even eaten them as TV snacks.

Review by: new veggie loverAwesome!Healthiest snack I ever crunched on. The product tasted like fresh picked string beans but had the crunchy texture of chips. Have to admit that I never re-hydrated any from two bags I ordered, because they are good right out of the bag. I ate them to satisfy the crunch texture desire with meals, or in salads, or as a TV snack.

Review by: chemist momJust like frozen green beansThis product exceeded my expectations, which were already pretty high, after looking at the picture above. They look just as good delivered as they do in the picture, and the flavor is great even eaten "as is", as enthusiastically tested by my very picky 3-year old and my 2-year old. When re-hydrated, the beans have the aroma, texture and flavor of frozen green beans. I am very happy to have found this product, because I like frozen green beans better than canned green beans, and I have lost all my substantial inventory of frozen green beans twice due to power outages. Now I have a shelf-stable product, and can re-hydrate as little as one bean, or enough for a steam table pan full, with no waste. A note on density: the 15 pound-bulk box filled 5 of the standard-sized 6-gallon buckets with the inside also containing a ziploc mylar bag, and I had 8 quart jars left over to put directly into the cupboard.

Easy to Prepare
- Use dry as a snack and as an addition to veggie trail mixes.
- Use dry for a crunchy effect in salads and, while serving, cooked rice and cooked pasta.
- Add dry during the last 5 or so minutes of cooking soups and stews that have sufficient broth.
- For most other applications, hydrate by soaking for 5 minutes in a generous amount of cold or hot water (hot water works slightly better). Then drain.
Yield — 1 oz equals about 2 cups dry with very low moisture content.
Rehydration Ratio — 1 lb of freeze dried green beans, once rehydrated, equals approximately 11 lbs of fresh prepared cross cuts green beans.
Storage — Tastes best if used within 24 months of purchase. Store tightly sealed and minimize exposure to heat and humidity.
